The Mississippi Band of Choctaw Indians will be offering sports betting very soon. This means Choctaw being first Native American tribe to offer gambling on sports.

Just two weeks ago Choctaw Tribal Council approved sports betting at the Silver Star Casino and Hotel, Bok Home Casino (situated in Heidelberg) and Golden Moon Casino near Philadelphia.

Decision for these actions was briefly made after the United States Supreme Court removed a law that prohibited wagering on sports. Choctaw tribe had been anticipating positive ruling for a long time now – officials have been working on their next move for almost a year now.

There is no date set for wagering on sports in state of Mississippi, but it is believed that Choctaw tribe will be the first one to introduce sports betting in the state. Tribe officials said in the statement that Choctaw tribe has cleared all the regulatory issues that might come up.

Exactly month ago, on May 14th, United States Government Supreme Court struck down many decades old federal ban on sports wagering, after which Mississippi officials shortly announced that first casinos will be start their betting shops already sometime in the coming summer months.
